The Parisian underworld gang alleged to have robbed Kim Kardashian at gunpoint are finally set to go on trial almost a decade after the $10 million heist that stunned the world<\/p>\n +17 View Khedache, Abbas and the other ten accused will finally appear in the dock at the Paris Assizes, accused of \u2018armed robbery in an organised gang\u2019, \u2018kidnap\u2019 and \u2018criminal conspiracy\u2019.<\/p>\n Despite the levity of some involved these are hugely serious charges which could well see the older defendants locked up for the rest of their lives<\/p>\n But delays have been constant throughout the nine years so no one will be surprised if the April date slips.<\/p>\n Officers from the elite Banditry Repression Brigade (BRB) of the Paris Judicial Police are particularly angry about this, having caught all of the alleged gang in simultaneous raids back as long ago in January 2017.<\/p>\n The detectives were convinced that justice would be swift and decisive, but timetabling problems caused by high-profile terrorist trials caused backlogs.<\/p>\n There were also fears that publicity because of the Kardashian connection process would destroy the upmarket Paris tourism industry at a time of prestige five-star events, right up until last summer\u2019s Olympics.<\/p>\n So nine years on, most of the key defendants are also old and sick, meaning that they were all freed from high-security remand cells where they were originally expected to remain until trial.<\/p>\n Frustrated by the continuous adjournments, investigators have meanwhile provided an extraordinary account of the raid to MailOnline.<\/p>\n Leaks include a neatly typed document listing Ms Kardashian\u2019s married name before her 2022 divorce, reading, VICTIM: Ms. her<\/p>\n The police dossier shows how a combination of DNA and CCTV analysis, phone taps and geolocation, and dogged determination by detectives including the physical tailing of suspects, led to the smashing of Omar & Co within two months of their Hollywood-style heist.<\/p>\n The saga began back in the summer of 2016, when Old Omar got a tip that a \u2018big American star was coming to town\u2019 and that she was showing off her fabulous wealth on Instagram.<\/p>\n This was a time when old school criminals were abandoning traditional heists for so-called sauccissons \u2013 \u2018sausage raids\u2019 which involve following rich people into their homes, \u2018wrapping them up like sausages\u2019 and then forcing them at gunpoint to say where they kept their valuables, before stealing them.<\/p>\n According to prosecutors, the Kardashian tip came from Florus H\u00e9roui, who ran a bar in Le Marais.<\/p>\n The central Paris district has always been a hotbed of professional criminals, but is now also populated by wealthy creatives, including actors and fashionistas.<\/p>\n H\u00e9roui is said to have got precise information about Ms Kardashian\u2019s movements during Paris Fashion Week from Gary Madar, a VIP greeter who regularly met stars as they arrived at Paris Le Bourget airport by private jet.<\/p>\n Crucially, Madar was trusted and liked by Ms Kardashian, and had close family links to the car company she always used when in France \u2013 and they were photographed together many times.<\/p>\n Old Omar was fleeing justice at the time, 79-year-old who was first convicted of drug trafficking in the early 1990s, is on the Kardashian charge sheet as a key organiser of the heist.<\/p>\n Back in 2016, she allegedly joined Omar and other gang members \u2018oggling Kim\u2019s jewels after Googling pictures on a computer,\u2019 according to a police investigator.<\/p>\n \u2018None of them had much idea who Kim was, but they liked her very expensive bling,\u2019 the source added.<\/p>\n All were particularly interested in Ms Kardashian\u2019s 18.88-carat engagement ring, especially after she proudly announced that she \u2018did not\u00a0wear fake jewellery\u2019.<\/p>\n Scouting out the star\u2019s Paris address was easy, Omar told detectives \u2013 the gang simply had to follow Ms Kardashian\u2019s Mercedes V-Class people carrier to find out that she was staying in the H\u00f4tel de Pourtal\u00e8s, a converted mansion close to La Madeleine church.<\/p>\n Better known as the \u2018No Address\u2019, Pourtal\u00e8s is a collection of dream apartments which have welcomed multiple Hollywood A-listers, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, as well as Madonna and the late Prince.<\/p>\n Crucially, the tip was that Ms Kardashian would enjoy some \u2018me time\u2019 alone in the Sky Penthouse at Pourtal\u00e8s, while allowing her staff and family members out on the town.<\/p>\n This is exactly what happened in the early hours of October 3rd, when, at 2.20am, three cyclists in fluorescent yellow vests approached the No Address and parked their bikes in the courtyard.<\/p>\n +17 View gallery<\/p>\n A Pierrot\u2019 Bouian\u00e8re (right)<\/p>\n Two more arrived on foot, and all of them were also wearing black balaclavas and police armbands before confronting the property\u2019s only concierge, Abderrahmane Ouatiki, an Algerian father-of-one and Paris University PhD student then aged 39.<\/p>\n Pointing an antique Mauser 7.65mm at his head, the gang led Mr Ouatiki upstairs to the penthouse, where Ms Kardashian was lying on her bed in her bathrobe.<\/p>\n The then 35-year-old mother-of-two was alone after her German bodyguard, Pascal Duvier \u2013 whom she later sacked \u2013 went out dancing at L\u2019Arc, a nightclub by the Arc de Triomphe, with a group that also included her sister, Kourtney Kardashian.<\/p>\n Kim Kardashian recalled hearing noises outside the door, later telling officers: \u2018I said \u2018Hello!\u2019, but since no one answered, I knew something was wrong.\u2019<\/p>\n Two \u2018aggressive men\u2019 in black police uniforms then burst in with the handcuffed Mr Ouatiki.<\/p>\n Ms Kardashian intially tried to call 911 \u2013 the American police emergency number \u2013 on her iPhone 6, but of course it did not work in France.<\/p>\n \u2018He puts a gun directly to her head,\u2019 Mr Ouatiki recalled. \u2018She\u2019s crying, she\u2019s screaming. She\u2019s saying, \u201cDon\u2019t kill me, I have babies, please, I have babies! I\u2019m a mom! Take what you want!\u201d She\u2019s wearing just a robe and her hair is tied back.\u2019<\/p>\n To prevent Ms Kardashian from screaming too loudly, the robbers taped her mouth shut before locking her in her bathroom.<\/p>\n They spent a full 49 minutes in the penthouse, before leaving with a haul estimated to be worth around $10million.<\/p>\n As they fled, one accidently dropped a platinum cross adorned with diamonds that was found the next morning.<\/p>\n After cutting through her ties herself, Ms Kardashian went to another apartment downstairs, where her stylist, Simone Harouche, had barricaded herself in a bathroom.<\/p>\n +17 View gallery<\/p>\n A suspect in Kim Kardashian West\u2019s Paris robbery is brought to BRB building, Brigade de Repression du Banditisme in 2017<\/p>\n +17 View gallery<\/p>\n A suspect in Kim Kardashian West\u2019s Paris robbery is brought to BRB building, Brigade de Repression du Banditisme in 2017<\/p>\n Police were then alerted, and they took statements from Ms Kardashian before she was allowed to travel to Le Bourget at 7.40am, to take her private jet home.<\/p>\n In turn, Kanye West ended a concert in New York early, because of \u2018a family emergency\u2019. He was looking after the couple\u2019s young children, Saint and North.<\/p>\n Back in Paris, detectives soon gathered two genetic fingerprints on the Serflex ties used to restrain Ms Kardashian and Mr Ouatiki.<\/p>\n The samples corresponded to the prints of A\u00eft Khedache and Abbas \u2013 both of whom had their details all over police forensic databases because of their criminal antecedents.<\/p>\n Painstackingly gathering all video recordings in the area, detectives also found plenty of incriminating images.<\/p>\n They included multiple sightings of a Peugeot 508 which was driven by A\u00eft Khedache\u2019s son, Harminy A\u00eft Khedache.<\/p>\n Brigadier Christophe Korrell \u2013 a police telephone specialist \u2013 also went through 7,591 cell phone calls made in the Madelaine area around the robbery between October 2nd and 3rd.<\/p>\n Among them was a number beginning with 07 50 that Brig. Korrell described as a classic disposal \u2018war phone\u2019 typically used by crime lords.<\/p>\n The \u2018war phone\u2019 in question was owned by Old Omar, while others were linked to all the other prime suspects.<\/p>\n These included Didier \u2018Blue Eyes\u2019 Dubreucq, who was allegedly the second robber to actually enter the penthouse, along with Old Omar.<\/p>\n Dubreucq had served 23 years in prison for a post office robbery and for importing two tons of Colombian cocaine into Europe via a Saudi Arabian prince\u2019s private jet.<\/p>\n Rather than arrest the suspects straight away, the BRB launched tailing operations, which included placing GPS surveillance devices on suspects\u2019 cars.<\/p>\n This is when new \u2018faces\u2019 appeared, including Marceau \u2018Rough Nose\u2019 Baumgertner \u2013 an alleged Paris fence who is charged with \u2018concealment of stolen gold, jewels and watches\u2019.<\/p>\n Known as a gypsy market trader with a pet dog called Al Capone, the 70-year-old is recorded as having made trips to Antwerp \u2013 the diamond capital of Europe \u2013 with Old Omar and Glotin to allegedly sell the Kardashian jewellery.<\/p>\n Marceau \u2018Rough Nose\u2019 Baumgertner (left) and\u00a0Didier \u2018Blue Eyes\u2019 Dubreucq (right)<\/p>\n +17 View gallery<\/p>\n By December 5th 2016, BRB officers were allegedly watching the gang \u2018sharing the loot\u2019 on the terrace of a Marais caf\u00e9 (pictured)<\/p>\n Old Omar has told police the gold was melted down and resold, while saying he has \u2018no idea\u2019 where Ms Kardashian\u2019s ring ended up.<\/p>\n By December 5th 2016, BRB officers were allegedly watching the gang \u2018sharing the loot\u2019 on the terrace of a Marais caf\u00e9 close to the one where Omar had received his first tip about Ms Kardashian.<\/p>\n Long-focus lenses caught them all smoking heavily and sipping espressos in the winter sunshine.<\/p>\n A month later \u2013 on January 9th 2017 \u2013 the BRB burst into all their homes, handcuffed them, and placed them in custody.<\/p>\n A\u00eft Khedache originally denied any wrongdoing, but when he heard about the DNA evidence against him, he made a full confession.<\/p>\n It followed one of the detectives telling him in a recorded interview: \u2018We have your kid [Harminy A\u00eft Khedache] and your girlfriend [Cathy Glotin] in custody, and we\u2019re going to make their lives miserable if you don\u2019t talk\u2019.<\/p>\n Deeply traumatized by the robbery, Ms Kardashian avoided Paris for more than a year, so investigating judge Armelle Briand had to travel to the USA to interview her.<\/p>\n The first thing Ms Kardashian told Judge Briand was: \u2018I have a feeling that it\u2019s not the right place for me, I mean Paris.<\/p>\n \u2018I remember that I had an indescribable feeling, as if my heart would leave my body, I thought that I was going to die.\u2019<\/p>\n According to her recorded testimony, Ms Kardashian added: \u2018This experience opened my eyes to the fact that the world was no longer a safe place.\u2019<\/p>\n She said her \u2018relationship with valuables had changed\u2019, and that \u2018it\u2019s become a burden to be responsible for such expensive items.\u2019<\/p>\n It remains to be seen whether Ms Kardashian arrives in Paris in April to give evidence in court against her alleged assailants.<\/p>\n Despite some confessions, and the legal right of police and prosecution to leak information about the case, all officially remain innocent until proved guilty in connection with the largest jewellery theft committed against a single person in France this century.<\/p>\n As the days go by, one of the defendants told Mail Online: \u2018At this rate we\u2019ll all be appearing in the dock in wheelchairs or coffins.\u2019<\/p>\n The Kardashian 12 is made up of 11 men and one woman who are all currently on remand, and living freely in the Paris suburbs and on the French Riviera.<\/p>\n They will go on trial at the Paris Assizes court on April 28th, in a kidnap and armed robbery trial listed for one month.<\/p>\n The following five lead defendants are charged with \u2018armed robbery in an organised gang\u2019 and with \u2018kidnapping\u2019:<\/p>\n Aomar A\u00eft Khedache, 69<\/p>\n Known as \u2018Old Omar\u2019, he was the self-confessed leader of Omar & Co, the gang that carried out the Kardashian heist in October 2016.<\/p>\n A\u00eft Khedache, who was first imprisoned on drug offences at the age of 14, was released from a remand cell in April 2020 because of serious ill health including heart problems.<\/p>\n He is now living in a Paris suburb, having publicly admitted kidnapping and robbing Kim Kardashian.<\/p>\n Yunnis Abbas, 72<\/p>\n The convicted criminal has spent at least 20 years of his life in prison, and admits acting as look-out during the Kardashian heist.<\/p>\n He underwent a triple heart bypass operation during one spell inside. Abbas has written a book called I kidnapped Kim Kardashian. Known for his fake alibis, he infamously said of his wife, Farida Abbas: \u2018I\u2019ve been lying to her all my life so as to protect her\u2019.<\/p>\n He now lives with Madame Abbas in northern Paris, where she is nursing him constantly.<\/p>\n Didier \u2018Blue Eyes\u2019 Dubreucq, 69<\/p>\n Allegedly the second robber to enter Kim Kardashian\u2019s penthouse, along with Old Omar.<\/p>\n Dubreucq has served 23 years in prison for a post office robbery and for importing two tons of Colombian cocaine into Europe via a Saudi Arbian prince\u2019s private jet.<\/p>\n The heavy smoker now has lung cancer, and was the first to be released from his remand cell following his arrest in connection with the Kardashian heist.<\/p>\n Pierre \u2018Big Pierrot\u2019 Bouian\u00e8re, 72<\/p>\n Accused of being one of the \u2018brains of the Kardashain operation\u2019, he currently claims to have Alzheimers, and is living in Grasse, on France\u2019s Mediterranean coast.<\/p>\n A career criminal specialising in drug trafficking, Bouian\u00e8re told police he had \u2018retired\u2019 following an arrest for being in possession of two kilos of cocaine in 2006.<\/p>\n \u2018Big Pierrot\u2019 is thought to have been the robber who dropped Ms Kardashain\u2019s jewellery as he made his escape from her Paris apartment.<\/p>\n Marc-Alexandre \u2018The Kid\u2019 Boyer, 36<\/p>\n A self-styled \u2018dog babysitter\u2019, Boyer was sentenced to six years for drug offences in 2013, but cleared on appeal, and let out out of prison in July 2016, just three months before the Kardashian heist.<\/p>\n Phone analysis placed him in Paris on the night of the robbery, and he \u2018took the first high-speed train to Nice,\u2019 in the South of France, the next morning, say investigators.<\/p>\n A pair of Armnani trousers filmed on the night of the crime has been linked to Boyer, who is currently based in Antibes, near Nice.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The following defendants are charged with various offences, ranging from \u2018complicity in the crimes\u2019 against Kim Kardashian to \u2018association with criminals\u2019 and \u2018concealment\u2019 of stolen property.<\/p>\n Christiane \u2018Cathy\u2019 Glotin, 78<\/p>\n A long-term career criminal who was first convicted of drugs offences in the early 90s, Glotin has lived with with some of the biggest names in the Paris criminal underworld, including Old Omar.<\/p>\n She is said to have helped organise the Kardashian heist, and allegedly travelled to Antwerp to sell the swag.<\/p>\n The heavy smoker is currently being treated for throat cancer, as well as back and heart problems.<\/p>\n She now lives quietly in Charenton-le-Pont, in the south eastern Paris suburbs, and \u2018is involved in charity work,\u2019 according to a close friend.<\/p>\n Fran\u00e7ois \u2018Big Guy\u2019 Delaporte, 61<\/p>\n The convicted drug trafficker and counterfeit bank note dealer was originally said to have been caught on surveillance cameras around the scene of the robbery.<\/p>\n A distinctive limp was noted by police investigators, but this was later attributed to another suspect.<\/p>\n Despite this, Delaporte is still alleged to have been \u2018associating\u2019 with the gang, and \u2018possessing false administrative documents.\u2019<\/p>\n He currently works for a construction company in the greater Paris area.<\/p>\n Florus H\u00e9roui, 52<\/p>\n The bar manager who allegedly passed on information about Kim Kardashian\u2019s movements in Paris to Old Omar, H\u00e9roui had close personal links to Ms Kardashian\u2019s official driver in Paris.<\/p>\n When police raided his apartment after the Kardashian heist, they allegedly found the equivalent of \u00a3120,000 in cash wrapped in a clothes cupboard, eight mobile phones, and a handgun and ammunition.<\/p>\n H\u00e9roui is said to have exercised his right to silence during a custody period, and is now living with his wife in Paris, while complaining of heart problems.<\/p>\n Harminy A\u00eft Khedache, 38<\/p>\n Known as \u2018Mimi\u2019, Old Omar\u2019s son is said to have acted as getaway driver on the night of the Kardashian heist.<\/p>\n When police raided his home, they found nine mobile phones, a Beretta pistol, and ammunition.<\/p>\n Gary Madar, 34<\/p>\n The clean-cut VIP greeter and celebrity fixer worked for the car company used by Kim Kardashian when she was in Paris.<\/p>\n He is said to have provided detailed information about her movements to the heist gang.<\/p>\n Describing Mr Madar as \u2018kind, warm and calm,\u2019 Ms. Kardashian said: \u2018When we arrived in Paris, we were always excited to see his familiar face.\u2019<\/p>\n Marceau \u2018Rough Nose\u2019 Baumgertner, 70<\/p>\n The alleged fence for Omar & Co is charged with \u2018concealment of stolen gold, jewels and watches\u2019.<\/p>\n Officially a gypsy market trader, he and has been convicted for money laundering and document falsification in the past.<\/p>\n He made a number of trips to Antwerp to sell Kim Kardashian\u2019s jewelry, according to investigators who had placed a GPS tracker on his car.<\/p>\n Marc Boyer, 62<\/p>\n The father of Marc-Alexandre Boyer is charged with \u2018possession of a category B firearm without authorisation\u2019 \u2013 namely the German World War I Mauser 7.65mm pistol used to attack Ms Kardashian.<\/p>\n Well known to the police, Marc Boyer is long-term friend of Pierre Bouain\u00e8re.
